I've been reported this on #687450 and corfirm this and other problem
related shotwell (see my bug).

A partially fixing is:

If you want to show off your photos in all of their glory, why not run a 
slideshow of them?
    * Watch a slideshow using the Image Viewer
    * Watch a slideshow using the Shotwell Photo Manager

Setting a Slideshow as Your Screensaver

You can use a slideshow of your photos as you screensaver:

   1. Press System → Preferences → Screensaver
   2. Select the Folder Images
   3. Phot present in Image folders will be displayed as your screensaver
