Here's an example from the above mentioned art.gnome.org picture from the foo2hp filter. Note the regular square-ish pattern produced, as well as the unchanging, relatively large, and relatively widely spaced dot sizes. Something is being handled differently for colour printing, and it produces *really* ugly results.
