...and it's back :) This time I noticed looking at the system monitor applet that the scrolling that causes the stuttering (not all scrolling causes stuttering, e.g. not all tabs in Chromium are causing it, nor Eclipse), the "system" color goes way up, while in situations where scrolling does not cause stuttering there's only a small increase of the "user" color.
