I appreciate your bug report and want to push it further, but
unfortunately there isn't enough information to go on.
I don't know your technical ability, are you able to debug the system?
or willing to go through a potential steep learning curve in order to do
so? If not then all we can really do is hope for the best and watch the
'incomplete' timer count down to 0, otherwise you'll need to have some
terminal dexterity. (linuxcommand.org is a good place to learn)
I assume when you are presented with the option to try or install you
are able to switch to another virtual terminal (ctrl+alt+f1), I don't
believe there is a login, but if there is it should be 'ubuntu' with no
password, if you can start tailing the syslog(sudo tail -fn50
/var/log/syslog), then go back to the main screen(ctrl+alt+f7) and hit
try or do whatever you need to do to make the system freeze, once the
desktop freezes loading, you can still switch back to the 1st virtual
terminal, and you may be able to see any major errors.
If you can see the errors or even if you cant, for us to see it you'll
need to copy the syslog to a usb drive or mount a hard drive and copy it
to that, then boot up into a working environment and then attaching it
here for further investigation.
WITH That all said, looking at your lshw you have an ATI graphics card
and there have a been a boat load of issues with the drivers for ati
graphics chips and so it may be fixed as part of a wider group of fixes
once the drivers are sorted.
