I can confirm this bug. On a newly installed system, after I install the CompizConfig Settings Manager and activate Cube Reflection and Deformation, the deformation is stuck at Cylinder.
I'm not sure what I did that made it work; I experimented with various CompizConfig settings, but the deformation stubbornly kept behaving as Cylinder. The next day, when I restarted the machine, Deformation suddenly worked correctly. At first, I thought that it had something to do with the graphics hardware (nVidia) in the machine, but I have also seen it happen in an AMD/ATI system.
