This seems more complicated than I thought. Sometimes it is possible to
launch from the command line and get a working menu. However, clicking
on a menu item greys out the menu. Further instances of gvim launchpad
from the command line do not display the menu at all or display the
unclickable greyed out menu. Launching gvim from the dock works fine,
and resets things so instances launched from the command line may have
the menu displayed.
