This might be correct but average users are not interested in such relationship crisis. They just drop ubuntu. "Lol, that shit does not even use my nvidia, omg. I thought Linux was for old devices.."
My opinion is that linux has no room for such regressions. If we want to gain market share and convince people about free software (in the meaning of open source) we have to offer them at least minimal functionality. Keyboard, mouse, sound, (3D and powersaving) graphics.
