thanks for your answer, i'll give a try the log/reports giving no clue about the problem, that sounds to me like a bug : i was expecting the update manager to provide me an clear analysis like your "please try to purge xorg-edgers ppa" instead of a huge amount of errors which are meaningless when processed individualy...
