So, I'd warned my mother not to update to 11.04, since personally I'd found it to be one of the buggier releases since I made Ubuntu my main linux distro many years ago.
The big "update now" screen convinced her to do it anyway (keep in mind she is far away so support is not a casual thing). Anyway, this morning I got following message: "we've decided we don't like ubuntu 11.4 or whatever the new one is can you help us change it back?" "find it counter intuitive and don't like huge icons" Soo, I told her about Gnome Classic off the login screen. Anyway. My point is, if you are going to play this trick on users, PLEASE have an introduction and training wizard on starting Unity for the first time and PLEASE include in that training the explanation of how to launch Gnome Classic. And PLEASE if Gnome Classic is dropped, add XFCE4 or some other suitable replacement to the default of the distro. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/648180 Title: Unity is not an adequate replacement for Gnome2 (and sucks a little bit less then it used to) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
