Changing the resolution with the nVidia driver through monitor preferences causes black bars to appear on the left and right for resolutions smaller then the maximum value (1920x1080). Using the nVidia display preferences causes a pop-up to appear:
"You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root). and restart the X server." Following the instructions causes the system to be unable to boot to desktop. Instead, service start messages are shown, and the system does not start gdm. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773718 Title: [Lenovo W520] changing resolution via xrandr leaves system with no display -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
