Thanks for your time and explanation.  While not as convenient as doing this
type shading or gradient in Microsoft Visio or Microsoft Draw, the 
work-around
is adequate for now.  An attached file shows what I was attempting to draw,
a section of pipe or tube with light shining on the forward side.

Do I have to do anything to close this bug, or is it closed by default?
