Comment #28 from Mikele worked for me.

Replacing the file vesamenu.c32 on the USB disk drive with that one
"/usr/lib/syslinux/vesamenu.c32" of Ubuntu Maverick system works fine,
and is a permanent fix.

This is the same when using Mint 10 and Mint 11.
