Can you file new reports for those 2 bugs? The bug about the install problem should be filed against 'ubiquity (ubuntu)', and the bug about the problem with the modem should be filed against 'linux (ubuntu)'. After, you can link me to the bug about the install problem. Unfortunately I don't have much experience with those 3g modems so I wont be of help there, but I will have a look at the other bug.
