Can you please attach the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade ? This will
help us diagnose the problem.
It sounds like the actual problem here is that the system ran out of diskspace,
but I would like to verify that theory with the logs and the output of:
$ df -h
There is a check in update-manager for enough free space, but it can
only check at a specific point in time.
