This is a known bug with IDL related to recent libx11-6 security
upgrades in various versions of Ubuntu. See this new document from the
vendor for more details and workarounds:

Until IDL 6.4 is out, it seems the only thing to do is to downgrade
libx11-6, which is what you have already done.
