The problem with brightness is still present after upgrade to 11.04.

I found these entries (location has changed):
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/actual_brightness
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness

Both seem to follow the intended brightness, but the backlight only
follows the FN-left and FN-rigth keys. The brightness seems to change in
steps of two. If I echo a value of 9 to brightness nothing happens to
the backlight. But if I use the FN-right (increase) just once the
backlight jumps to the maximum. It looks like the FN keys "apply" the
value that are present in these registers.

I also ran fwts which seems to indicate an issue with brightness value:

FAILED [HIGH]: Test 1, HIGH Kernel message: [ 1641.158950] ACPI Error:
Current brightness invalid (20110112/video-377)

Report attached.

Any advice on how to fix this would be very helpfull (kernel commandline
option?)
