And hoping I can be forgiven for trashing this thread with other fixes
related to the new Acer Aspire models, making sure you have a file
/etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf containing "options ath9k nohwcrypt=1" does
magic for the wifi performance as well. All these three "Kinder-egg" of
fixes (three fixes in one thread; audio, brightness and wifi) two days
before I had to bring my laptop on vacation! Looks like there will be
code written this vacation after all. Thanks to everybody.
