@Ricardo : same problem here, w 11.04 and kernel 2.6.39 (USB3 plug freezes).
as regards brightness hotkeys, this is a problem with nvidia driver
configuration : add
Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1"
in xorg.conf "Screen" section and this should work perfectly.
Card reader does not work either, same hardware so this is no surprise..
