The problem started with me when I upgrade to ubuntu 11.04. I use the all kernels from 2.6.38 onwards to 3.0 (not included) obtained from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/, but the problem persists. All USB ports are working in practice, but the terminals are unusable.
