None from the dev team is paying attention to this bug! It's a shame! Anyway I have a workaround.
Switch to a text console with CRTL+ALT+F1 to get a text login. Login with the new user and related password. You'll be asked to change the password as required by the administrator (though I have never asked such a thing). Then exit with ... exit and switch back to the X Windows with ALT+F7.
