This is not only irritating but makes it impossible for some users to fully use HDMI. The part of plugging an HDMI cable, select the TV source is easy. However, when she gets to the audio part, she gets confused. My mother cannot understand very well pavucontrol interface, identify which program is playing the sound and manually selecting HDMI output. And the worse part is that if she someway get it configured (even not knowing what she did) and she forgets to configure it back to internal speaker, the next time she plays the same program with hdmi unplugged, she gets no sound (as it is routing to HDMI).
I already configured to send the output for both (internal and hdmi) but it didn't solved my problem. For some reason, the audio from the pc and the one from the tv are not synchronized. It is that 10ms that makes all the difference! When HDMI is plugged, pulseaudio should send all sound to the HDMI (like default = HDMI) and it should return to the internal one when it gets unplugged. I didn't see something like this "default output" for pulseaudio. If desired, an advanced user could route individually each program to whatever output the user will but this is less than 1% of the uses. It is like when you plug headset and the internal speaker mutes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/809678 Title: Pulse should output sound automatically when HDMI cable is plugged To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/809678/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
