Put back to new, because the problem is still there... however, I'm not sure if it's kernel fault...
I've found that the machine can hibernate or sleep if the Virtualbox driver is installed in the kernel. So, if I install "virtualbox-4.1_4.1.0-73009~Ubuntu~natty_i386.deb", which puts a module into the kernel, the machine will not sleep/hibernate any more (even if I not run virtualbox at all). If I uninstall Virtualbox, the machine stop sleeping/hibernating correctly. So, I really don't know how to continue with this... how can I know if the issue is in the kernel or in Virtualbox? I'd glad to test anything you tell me, to help you debugging this...
