I think I can confirm this bug.
I also use an IBM ThinkPad T41p (2373-GHG). Suspend worked fine without any
configuration and with standard fglrx-driver on Edgy. With the realease of
Feisty I did a complete new installation of Ubuntu 7.04. Since then resuming
after suspend to RAM doesn't work at all. This is what happens:
1. I activate suspend to RAM by pressing Fn + F4 / closing lid /
shutdown-button -> standby
2. screensaver activates (normal?) a second later screen turns of laptop beeps,
sleep LED is on, obviously notebook sleeps normally
3. I press the power-button to activate the laptop
4. HDD starts working, sleep LED off, beep - everything normal but screen don't
turn on
5. I press Ctrl + Alt + F7 then display turns on and the mouse cursor or
sometimes the whole desktop appears
6. - if the desktop appears i can move the mouse but as soon as i do a click
the PC freezes
- if the mouse cursor appears i can move it and even click but nothing
happens
In both cases i can swith to other consoles with Ctrl + Alt + Fx (it seems
to work as the display flickers a moment) but the screen is just black.
It also seems that the consoles are not working, a "blind" login and sudo
shutdown -r now at least doesn't.
7. Finally the only thing i can do is a reebot by pressing Alt + SysRq + b
I tried some known suspend tricks and the ati-driver but nothing
changes.
