I replayed your device recording on my machine running 11.04 and everything worked fine. I got a two touch drag gesture and fingerpainting worked.
It appears from your logs that the kernel is working properly but X evdev is not recognizing multitouch. Can you paste the output of "apt- cache policy xserver-xorg-input-evdev" please.
