Keyboard shortcuts should always have an alternative: - most people won't even know the shortcut exist (or maybe you want to make a 100 page manual with them?) - keyboard shortcuts require movement of hands that distract from using the system with mouse, - some disabled people could have problems with keyboard shortcuts (requiring holding two keys).
