Every version of Ubuntu that uses grub2 gives me an "out of disk" error
on first boot after a clean install. Whenever a new version comes out I
try installing it on a logical partition (side by side with WinXP), and
it fails to boot.

Despite many tries, couldn't come up with a solution, and couldn't boot
from the grub rescue prompt either. I've the latest bios version that
available for this 5yr old computer.

Please take this issue seriously. It's stayed unfixed for many Ubuntu
versions, I wonder how many people have walked away from Ubuntu because
they couldn't even install it.
