My test environment is rather limited. However here is what I've tested: Remote: Maverick Local: Natty Copy & paste from Maverick to Natty works. Copy & paste from Natty to Maverick results in graphics chars.
Remote: Maverick Local: Oneiric Copy & paste from Maverick to Oneiric works. Copy & paste from Oneiric to Maverick results in graphics chars. Sorry, I don't have any Natty-Natty or Oneiric-to-Oneiric setups. So the problem appears to be within the Maverick verison.
