I reproduced this scenario on an Ubuntu live system in kvm with -net
none, and removing the CD-ROM source. It failed in exactly the same way.
I fixed the crash, and now it fails gracefully. Also, after re-adding
the CD-ROM source, the driver was installed successfully. So for now I
assume that this crash fix, plus you adding bcmwl-kernel-source to the
DVD ought to be sufficient.
