Hi Matthew, Yes I beleive it should be persistent in the entire experience. why? because that's what we've come to expect of an online store experience. Silly I know. But we've made a lot of other design decisions based on this same mentality.
You may find it a stuggle to understand why I beleive this is useful. But I find it a struggle to see why having it would detract from the experience you describe. By implementing, you lose nothing, but I gain everything. Selfish? yeah probably.
