One more note. I am using a Toshiba NB 305 netbook with a 1024 x 600 (16:9) resolution display and have a Xerox 19" LCD VGA with a external monitor with a resolution of 1280 x 1024 (5:4) attached which I am using as my primary monitor. I have the netbook display disabled. When I get to the login screen the login only fills the to right quarter of the Xerox Monitor leaving the rest of the screen blank. After logging in, the display shows the full background tiled in four tiles before the full single background is displayed and unity comes up fully.
