Dear Ubuntu, this is very similar to the above, I hope you don't mind me contributing.
In running the 11.04 installer I did not have the battery in my Aspire One netbook model ZG5. doing a standard install from the CD (burned from the iso) the graphical installer dropped out to text mode, and I noticed the text 'kernel panic' immediately after the line 'checking battery'. There was no guidance as what information should be recorded for you, and as it's my only computer have no way to recover the log files (it's now working) Obviously ideally the installer should check the battery, but if the battery is faulty or missing should that prevent the install?
