in your error_log of comment #27 gives the impression that the CUPS filter "pstops", which embeds all option settings in the PostScript data stream is getting all the photo-specific settings which you made when you sent the job. So one would need to know whether they get actually embedded in the output PostScript data stream of "pstops" and whether Brother's driver obeys these option settings. In addition, it is important to know whether the same problem also occurs on your HP.
