Hi all,
I did all the 3 given above, the last one gives :-

 /dev/sdb1:
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~> sudo hdparm -d1 /dev/sdb2

/dev/sdb2:
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device

Guess would have try it to from Live CD or something or am I missing
something?

Anyway here's the output after doing all the above :-

sudo hdparm -tT /dev/sdb

/dev/sdb:
 Timing cached reads: 558 MB in 2.01 seconds = 278.15 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 82 MB in 3.03 seconds = 27.08 MB/sec

Don't see much of a difference from before.
