I need to know a little bit more about your system:

If you click the speaker icon (top right corner of screen), select "Sound 
Settings..." then "Output", what values of "Connector" are there? 
Is the "Connector" changing automatically when you plug/unplug headphones, and 
if so, between what values?
If you change "connector" manually, will that bring sound back to the speakers?
