I am 100% sure that I have chosen Ubuntu from the login screen and not Ubuntu 2d as the shell environment. New hardware is being picked up by the kernel, Unity and Compiz were both purged and reinstalled. Still no go. Suggestions? (besides fresh reinstall) As a footnote, I cannot run gnome shells properly either. The panels don't work at all. Has to be Compiz.
