I have just tried restarting gnome-shell a few times lead to 100% CPU and couldn't recover from within X. I did <CTRL>+<ALT>+<F1>, login, tried to kill gnome-shell (which failed to resolve anything the X server seemed to be toast as the windows were partially visible but not responsive to anything), then "sudo service lightdm restart" to recover back to the main login screen.
I hope this helps, but as yet I haven't reproduced the issue - it might be connected to hibernate or suspend or something I haven't noticed yet!!! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878846 Title: Kernel crashed when using GNOME To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/878846/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
