That response makes no sense as the desktop display of inserted / newly
mounted drives was available under the Unity GUI for Ubuntu 11.04.

This is a massive oversight that needs rectifying at once to restore
essential functionality and usability.

With release 11.10, Ubuntu no longer provides the functionality one
expects of a modern graphical desktop operating system.

This latest Ubuntu / Unity release represents a really disappointing
backward step.
