I don't know if it is relevant, but I performed the Feisty upgrade logged on as a different user - not the one experiencing the problems. I was actually upgrading the system of a friend, so I used my own account to do the upgrade. When I log on as the user which performed the upgrade (myself), everything is fine. When my friend logs on as himself, Konqueror is broken. Could it be that the upgrade tool works only on the current user's profile ? That would be a major problem, but one that not necessarily many people would see.
I took the basic idea from your advice about the profiles and managed to fix the problem. Thanks! However I didn't follow it exactly. Instead, here is what I did: - First of all, my Konqueror didn't have the "Settings / Load View Profiles" menu item at all ! Talk about unpleasant surprise :-) Fortunately, when started as a web browser more menus appeared and I managed to get to the view profiles dialog box. - I noticed that in the _working_ user's settings, the view profiles were called "Web Browsing" and "File Browsing". In the _broken_ user they were called "Kubuntu Web Browsing" and "Kubuntu File Browsing". - I loaded "Kubuntu File Browsing" and saved it again. From that moment on Konqueror started working fine in File Browsing mode. - I renamed "Kubuntu Web Browsing" to "Web Browsing". -- Konqueror new window missing toolbars and menus https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
