Someone told me it's a problem with my motherboard. It doesn't identify
the monitor. It calls the monitor "Default" and gives 1024*768 rez. The
perfect identification is Acer X193W LCD. Sometimes it gets identified
as Acer Technologies and then it gives the correct rez 1440*900. I also
have a problem with sound; when the mute is pressed, it stays off until
reboot. Maybe these 2 problems are related or maybe not.

At first I didn't get the grub display. But I fixed that problem by
making it display grub in text mode instead of graphic mode.

My computer works fine at the moment as long as I don't press 'mute' and
I can put up with the lower rez.
