I have a similar and hopefully the same problem using feisty ubuntu. It
neeeeeeever (see !) happened in console yet so I presume it's an Xorg
related issue. It happens when I type normally in a X application
(amsn, firefox, whatever). Also, it is not hardware related as the
repeated keyyyyyyy (again) varies from time to time, the backspace being
the most annoying onnnnnnnne.

My keyboard is an embedded laptop (Compaq V2000) keyboard, configured
using the following section in xorg.conf :

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
        Driver "kbd"
        Option "CoreKeyboard"
        Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
        Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
        Option "XkbLayout" "ca"
        Option "XkbOptions" "lv3:ralt_switch"
EndSection

Please help us fast.
