Hello, Dmitry Shachnev (mitya57),

(Possible fix or work around to the compiz config settings manager
problem)

Please could you answer this question for me if possible?

I was wondering if Ubuntu 11.10 creates user profiles similar MS windows
7 does and if it does. I was wondering if I was to login to my account &
create some extra (additional) user accounts on the system. Now I am
assuming that each user account is linked to a user profile in Linux and
that the new user logins wouldn't be damaged in the same way as my main
user account has been.

**I know this sounds a bit simplistic but this might actually work,
might fix the settings problem which I cannot undo from within this user
account. So was wondering if additional user account might not be
affected by the corrupted or damaged settings? Certainly seems like its
worth a try.

**Basically I am trying to avoid having to re-install the whole system
from scratch to fix this problem.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Am hoping to try a fix next
Saturday. Regards Ivan

PS: Haven't tried the "unity --replace" yet but certainly will give this
a try and report back.
