BTW - I get the same behavior when I've set up my browser to open some
downloaded files using gedit: I'm using Firefox 11 UX downloaded from Mozilla
as a binary tarball, and I can reproduce the same problem that I've explained
before using the following process:
1. Browse to some file that Firefox 11 UX does not know how to open.
2. In the "Save" dialog choose "Open" and click "Browse"
3. In the browse dialog enter /usr/bin/gedit
4. OK everything.

The result:
A new gedit window opens with two tabs: the requested file is the first tab and
the second tab is an "untitled document" with a "loading animation" for the
icon.
