Additional information - in both scenarios if you leave the gedit window
open and get either Dolphin or Firefox to open a new file, you get two
additional tabs on the existing gedit window - the file you requested
and another "untitled document".

I've tried to see if I can reproduce this behavior by invoking gedit
with the shell, but no matter what combination I tried I couldn't figure
out what parameters can be used to trigger this behavior. When I
reproduce this behavior using Dolphin or Firefox, the parameter list
gedit's proc entry look normal.
