Public bug reported:

I have been trying some variations of video drivers to get OpenGL
working better (Cogs & Crayon Physics). I have done a number of fresh
installs on this machine as each attempt got into trouble. This is a new
install of a version that previously worked. I have changed the video
card and memory recently but have had several successful installs since
then.

I only recently switched this PC to Linux from Win XP Media center
edition.

The ATI Radion 9550 that was in there didn't get along with Linux. I
tried a GeForce 4000GS but it but had problems with screen freezes. I am
was currently having some hopeful results with a ATI Sapphire x800.
Things were working except for the two games mentioned.

I tried the the Video on the mother board but it didn't like the TV that
this machine is meant for, in addition to not supporting the games.

I suspect something is going in the hardware itself since I am now
getting different results with the same configuration.

I have had several incidents of where the display didn't work right
after a restart.
