I removed proprietary driver nvidia-173:amd64 and left nvidia-current (it was already installed). I got a message from update notifier for 3 updates available, I clicked on show updates and then install updates, I was not prompted for my password, after about 5 minutes update manager displayed the same updates again and the install updates button was available again but nothing was installed.
I ran apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, I always get the following packages kept back: glib-networking ia32-libs. I ran apt-get dist-upgrade and also here the same two packages are always kept back. So I ran apt-get insall glib-networking --reinstall, and it got reinstalled. When I tried apt-get install ia32-libs --reinstall I got this output: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: ia32-libs : Depends: ia32-libs-multiarch E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. As I had other 13 updates to install, I ran apt-get update again and tried to use update-manager to update those 13 updates, this time I was promted for my password, but after a minute, the install updates button wasn't grey anymore and available but no update was installed. So I tried apt-get upgrade, got the message that the following packages have been kept back: gir1.2-rb-3.0 ia32-libs librhythmbox-core4 poppler-utils rhythmbox rhythmbox-plugin-cdrecorder rhythmbox-plugins Then I entered apt-get dist-upgrade, the previous packages kept back got installed but the following package got kept back: ia32-libs. ** Attachment added: "history.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/899648/+attachment/2620943/+files/history.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/899648 Title: Update manager does not install downloaded updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/899648/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
