Modern Ubuntu releases still blacklist the module. The conflict with 
snd-intel8x0 was a bug from 2004 which has been solved. Nearly every distro 
does not blacklist snd-intel8x0m anymore. No one has problems with it being 
loaded when dial-up is not in use.
We should really remove this blacklist in Ubuntu as well.
