The upgrade failed because the system was unable to stop the running
mysqls.
Could you do
sudo service mysql stop
then do 'ps -ef | grep mysql' and see whether mysql is still running?
If it is not, then re-try the update. Otherwise, please show us the
result of both the 'service stop' and 'ps -ef' commands.
