Some more info related to the user config: - unity-greeter is NOT installed on this system, it has been purged from previous Oneiric installation - this system is an Oneiric dist-upgrade - the logo used is the one notified: UbuntuLogo.png, not the supposed one mentionned in post #9 above by Doug - related to bug #892394: on my system, /usr/share/unity-greeter/logo.png shows an empty logo (blank), so it cant be the one seen under lightdm login screen
