Ok, I did some testing.

Restarting geeqie does NOT fix it (tried 10+ times)
Relogging (and thus restarting X and all desktop daemons) does NOT fix it  
(tried 10+ times)
Rebooting DOES fix it (problem disappeared after first try)

This is weird... the only components, involved in graphics, I can think
of that reset when you restart linux, but not when you restart X are...
well... the kernel and the video card hardware.

I'm running a Samsung Laptop with nvidia optimus. I am not starting
geeqie with optirun, so it's running on the Intel card.
