Hi John and thanks for reporting this bug,
To troubleshoot further, could you please provide two pieces of information:
1) run "apport-collect 903400" in a terminal
2) Provide a PulseAudio log according to http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo
- make sure that audio is working just after the log started, and that you
don't stop logging until the hardware is broken.
